Regatta Brand Acquired by Hong Kong Firm

Li & Fung USA has purchased apparel firm Regatta USA for approximately $145 million.

Regatta is a major player in the private-label clothing market will give Li & Fung USA, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Li & Fung Ltd., stronger ties to key retailers such as Kohl’s Department Store, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and J.C. Penney & Co. Regatta designs and markets high-profile brands such as Simply Vera by Vera Wang, Metro 7 and Daisy Fuentes.

“Regatta is the industry leader in identifying and developing brand opportunities,” said Rick Darling, president of Li & Fung USA. “They will significantly increase our capability to develop and design brands for major retailers in the U.S.”

Regatta’s U.S. headquarters are located at 1450 Broadway, in the Garment District. Chief Executive Haim Dabah and his team will stay on to run the firm, and Mr. Haim will join Li & Fung USA’s executive board.
